The woman told East Bay Regional Park District police she was hiking on a trail near Alvarado Park when a man grabbed her from behind. He tried to pull her into a wooded area, but the woman fought back, screamed and was able to break free, police said.
She called police around 6 p.m. A search for the man, which included a California Highway Patrol helicopter, was unsuccessful.
