PHOENIX -- The A's got some good news on the pitching injury front Sunday with Sean Doolittle and Drew Pomeranz both improving.
Doolittle's right calf ailment is close to being a thing of the past, and he's scheduled to pitch off a mound on Monday.
Pomeranz, whose first spring with the A's got off to a rocky start with an ingrown hair on his leg that eventually needed to be lanced, was scheduled to throw on the side Sunday and could be throwing off a mound later this week.
"It's time to take the training wheels off,'' Doolittle said. "I'm feeling pretty good now.''
Pomeranz, a lefty who could ultimately either start or relieve, said his injury "was just weird." And it was "pretty miserable'' but it's time to get going.
"I'll be playing some catch today,'' he said. "Things are getting better.''
Right-hander Ryan Cook (right shoulder) doesn't have a timetable for getting back on the mound.
