PLEASANTON -- An Oakland man suspected of stealing property from inside unlocked vehicles was arrested early Monday morning after a resident reportedly caught him in the act and called authorities, police said.
Christopher Yorrie, 40, was found hiding in some bushes after police were called to Camino Brazos around 3:45 a.m. and was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen material and prowling, Pleasanton police Sgt. Julie Fragomeli said.
A resident reported seeing Yorrie taking property from inside a parked vehicle, then leaving Camino Brazos on foot. When police found Yorrie in the bushes near the intersection of Hansen Drive and Camino Brazos, they said he had property from unlocked vehicles located on Ridgevale Road, Fairfield Road and Camino Brazos.
Police said the only reason they caught Yorrie was because a resident was alert and reported what he saw, and they are encouraging other citizens to be equally alert.
