MOSS LANDING -- A 40-year-old transient man was arrested early Monday morning after deputies found five pipe bombs and a loaded revolver in his RV.
Monterey County deputies were on patrol on Sandholdt Road in Moss Landing about 11:50 p.m. Sunday when they investigated a license plate on a recreational vehicle, said Monterey County sheriff's deputy Shaun Moran.
The license plate was from another vehicle, and deputies spoke to the RV owner, Erik Richard Snyder. Snyder told deputies that the RV's registration was in a lock box in the RV and deputies retrieved it.
They found five small pipe bombs and a loaded handgun, Moran said. Snyder is a felon and has restraining orders against him, so he is not allowed to have the weapons, deputies said.
Snyder was arrested on suspicion of weapons possession and was booked into Monterey County Jail.
The RV was not far from the power plant in Moss Landing, but an investigation determined that the bombs were not related to it, Moran said.
