OAKLAND -- An 18-year-old man already accused in the home-invasion robbery and shooting of an 81-year-old woman last month near the Mormon Temple has also been charged with additional residential burglaries, including one where a witness was shot at, authorities said.

Shaquez Willard, of Oakland, is now charged with five felony counts: armed home-invasion robbery, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, two counts of first-degree residential burglary, and attempted first-degree residential burglary. He is being held without bail.

Twin brothers, 16, from Stockton, are also charged with armed robbery and burglary in the Jan. 28 attack on the 81-year-old woman inside her Laguna Avenue house. Their names were not released.

Police said the suspects kicked in the door to the home looking for valuables and shot the woman before fleeing with a laptop computer in a car that was taken in another burglary. Physical evidence gathered from the scene and other information led to Willard's arrest Feb. 6 and the boys on Jan. 29.

Officer Hector Jimenez said Willard admitted his involvement in each case but denied shooting the woman. Willard said the suspects needed money and picked out nice-looking houses to find it, Jimenez said.

The assault with a semi-automatic firearm and armed residential burglary counts stem from a Jan. 31 break-in at a home in the 10800 block of Lochard Street near Knowland Park. The suspects kicked in the front door and took several items. Jimenez said one of the suspects shot at two witnesses who yelled at them as they were fleeing.

The other residential burglary was Jan. 25 on Brunell Drive. Four suspects kicked the front door open while the residents were away and fled with a Toyota that was used in the Laguna Avenue robbery and shooting.

The attempted burglary Willard is charged with happened Jan. 24 on Charing Cross Road. Police said four suspects tried to kick open a home's front door but were frightened off by the screams of the resident inside. Patrice Davis, 18, of Oakland, is charged with attempted burglary and violating probation in the case and other suspects are still being sought in the cases.
