OAKLAND -- A man was shot and killed Saturday night just blocks from Highland Hospital, according to police.

Little is known about what happened, and no suspect information was available late Saturday.

Officers responded to reports of the shooting at 14th Avenue and East 24th Street about 8:30 p.m. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering as much as $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer. Anyone with information may call investigators at 510-238-3821, a tip line at 510-773-2805 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
