HAYWARD -- A known Bay Area flasher is facing more felony sex charges after police set up a stakeout and reportedly caught him in the act again -- this time allegedly exposing himself to fast-food drive-thru employees in the Southgate neighborhood.

Convicted sex offender Mario Cervantes Martinez, 57, was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure after police say he showed his genitals to female employees on three separate occasions within the past month at the McDonald's on the 2200 block of West Tennyson Road.

All three flashings took place during the early morning hours at the McDonald's next to Kaiser Permanente's Hayward hospital near Mt. Eden Park, said Sgt. Mark Ormsby.

The first reported flashing took place about 3:46 a.m. Jan. 24, when a man driving a blue Nissan SUV pulled into the drive-thru, ordered food and then pulled up to the window to pay.

A female employee who opened the drive-thru window told police that instead of paying up, the man in the SUV exposed himself. She quickly shut the window and the man drove away.

About a week later, on Feb. 3 , the same thing happened to another female drive-thru employee. After that 3 a.m. flashing, the female employee dialed 911, but the man had fled the area when responding officers arrived.

Both female victims in each flashing told police the man was a regular customer, but that they did not know his name.

About 2 a.m. Feb. 18, police staked out the McDonald's without the employees' knowledge, Ormsby said. Around 2:30 a.m., a man in a blue Nissan SUV pulled into the drive-thru. Employees immediately called police to alert them the man had returned, Ormsby said.

Officers pulled up behind the SUV and ordered the man to get out, Ormsby said.

"As he stepped out of the vehicle I saw his erect penis exposed through a hole cut out through the crotch of his pants," a Hayward officer wrote in his report.

Police identified the man as Martinez, a Hayward resident, and arrested him on suspicion of indecent exposure, Ormsby said.

Martinez, who police said is a registered sex offender for a 2006 indecent exposure in Alameda County, remained incarcerated on $140,000 bail at the Santa Rita Jail on Thursday.

He's scheduled to enter a plea on his charges next week at the Hayward Hall of Justice.
