OAKLAND -- A 47-year-old woman killed in a crash on state Highway 24 last week has been identified as Sharon Santos of Pittsburg, according to the Alameda County Coroner's bureau.

Santos died following the 4:45 a.m. two-vehicle wreck Friday on the highway just east of the Interstate 580 split. The California Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene for a report of a disabled motorist stopped in one of the westbound lanes, but as officers responded to the scene, they received another call that another car had struck the disabled vehicle -- a Mazda Sport Utility Vehicle.

Upon officer arrival, they found Santos in the driver's seat of the Mazda and extricated her from it. Firefighter personnel arrived and attempted to revive her, officers said, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car that hit the Mazda was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries following the wreck. That driver what not cited, officers said.

Although the wreck remained under investigation on Sunday, officers said that rain was likely a factor in the crash.
