SAN JOSE -- A man was hit and killed by a vehicle around 9 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Avenue in South San Jose, police said.
San Jose police and fire crews responded to the area and found the man unconscious on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, police said.
The vehicle that struck him remained at the scene, and the driver is cooperating with investigators.
Southbound lanes of Almaden Expressway were closed after the collision for the investigation. It is a large intersection, where pedestrians crossing Almaden need to pass nine lanes of traffic.
