HAYWARD -- A man fatally struck by a BART train near the South Hayward station has been identified as 28-year-old Geovanni Henriquez, an Alameda County Coroner's Office spokeswoman said Thursday.
The South Hayward, Union City and Fremont stations all were closed after the incident, which took place about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, BART spokesman Jim Allison said. Henriquez was not an employee and an initial investigation by police showed no signs of foul play.
"For now it's an unattended death pending the results of the investigation," Allison said.
The fatality shut down trains south of San Leandro for more than 12 hours. The tracks reopened about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. BART police completed their investigation about 6:30 a.m., and BART's operations department then inspected the tracks, Allison said.
