Federal and local authorities have uncovered new information linking a Reno cold case murder in 1976 to a string or murders on the Peninsula that same year. Authorities in 1976 called the resemblance between the victims "startling," and noted that the killer seemed to target teenage brunettes with their hair parted down the middle. In each case, the victims were in transit and stabbed multiple times, and all were suspected to have been raped.
