OAKLAND -- The California Highway Patrol is seeking a driver who ran from a fatal two-car wreck Sunday afternoon on Interstate 880 near the O.co Coliseum.
The name of the driver killed in the other vehicle, which overturned, has not been released pending notification of relatives. A male passenger in his car was also injured but will recover, officials said. His name was not released.
The wreck happened about 3:10 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of the freeway north of Hegenberger Road.
The driver of a black Honda ran from the vehicle and avoided being hit by other vehicles as he made his way off the freeway.
CHP Officer Sean Wilkenfeld said investigators have talked to the Honda's owner, who was not driving the car at the time and is cooperating with the CHP, Wilkenfeld said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the CHP at 510-450-3821.
