SAN JOSE - A San Jose woman has won more than $400,000 in the California Lottery Mega Millions drawing after picking numbers that matched her fortune cookies, lottery officials announced Friday.

Merces Goncalves and her husband will take their first honeymoon after 52 years of marriage after she matched five of six winning numbers in the March 4 drawing, winning $421.811, according to lottery officials.

She bought the winning ticket at a liquor store in Los Gatos in Santa Clara County, where a $425 million Powerball ticket was sold last month a $324 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in December.

Goncalves said she picked the five winning numbers - 10, 29, 31, 35 and 45 - by matching them to numbers from inside her fortune cookie.

The Mega winning number was 10, and had Goncalves selected the Mega number she would have won $240 million in the March 4 drawing.

Still, she's pleased with her winnings.

"I don't care that I didn't hit the big one," she said, according to lottery officials.

Goncalves and her husband will take the honeymoon trip they couldn't afford when they got married 52 years ago.
