OAKLAND -- A 17-year-old boy died from gunshot wounds early Monday at Highland Hospital, but police were trying to determine where the shooting took place.
The teen, whose name was not released, was brought to the hospital about 12:15 a.m. by someone who said he found him on the street near the hospital.
The teen died a short time afterward and police were trying to determine if he was shot where he was found or if he was shot somewhere else.
No motive has been established and no arrest has been made.
A short time after the teen was taken to the hospital, a 22-year-old Oakland man drove himself to the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
He told police he had been shot on Interstate 580 somewhere near Lakeshore Avenue and Park Boulevard. Police don't have a motive for that shooting and no arrest has been made.
Police are investigating whether the shootings were related.
