SAN JOSE -- A two-alarm fire early Monday morning damaged an industrial building located in North San Jose.

San Jose firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze inside a concrete structure on Old Bayshore Highway, located near Gish Road and Interstate 880.

At 3:19 a.m. the Fire Department received a report that smoke was coming out of a commercial building in the 1500 block of Old Bayshore Highway, San Jose fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said. The structure is divided into several industrial businesses, and firefighters initially had difficulty getting to the blaze, he said.

Once firefighters reached the fire, it was extinguished "fairly quickly," Van Elgort said.

Firefighters called a second alarm at 3:40 a.m. and had it knocked down about 30 minutes later.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, but there is "nothing overtly suspicious" about the blaze, Van Elgort said.
