Dining deals: It's Restaurant Week, the springtime chapter! First up is Walnut Creek Restaurant Week, April 21-27, with three-course lunch and dinner menus at $10, $20, $30 or $40. Two dozen restaurants are participating, including Sasa, Corners Tavern and Va de Vi. For Silicon Valley Restaurant Week, April 30-May 7, about 40 restaurants from San Mateo in the north (Osteria Coppa) to Morgan Hill in the south (Ladera Grill) are doing three-course dinners. It's a chance to try the new Los Gatos hot spots of Lexington House, Centonove or Hult's; Latin specialist LV Mar in Redwood City; or Mountain View's Cijjo', a global fusion lounge. And as always, a number of high-end restaurants join in on the culinary deals. Look for menus from Paolo's, the Grill on the Alley, Morton's, LB Steak, Forbes Mill and Sent Sovi Wine Lounge. SoCal in the Creek: Walnut Creek's newest little cafe is the 310 Eatery -- 310 is a Los Angeles area code, and the theme here is L.A. street food, a mix we're hoping will succeed in a location (1633 Bonanza St.) that was starting to feel downright hexed. The 310 is open for lunch and dinner Mondays through Saturdays (and until the wee hours on Fridays and Saturdays), offering sandwiches, burgers and other casual eats, such as a pastrami-filled Westside Classic ($9), a chili-topped bacon-wrapped Rampart hot dog ($7) and the Beachside 50/50 ($9), a half beef, half bacon burger.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas-based Capriotti's Sandwich Shop is opening its first Northern California cafe in Concord. The sub shop has one of those registered trademark-peppered menus, but even we will admit that the Thanksgiving-esque Bobbie with its turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing sounds pretty tasty. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1975 Mt. Diablo St., just off Todos Santos Plaza.

San Jose skewers: In less than two months, San Jose has gone from having no Brazilian steakhouses to having two -- Fogo de Chao and now, downtown's Taurinus. Here, grilling gauchos roam the dining room floor in traditional churrascaria style, skewers in hand, carving meats for diners who have already filled up at the high-end appetizer and salad bar. During dinner there's a choice of any (or all) of the 12 slow-roasted meats, including filet mignon, top sirloin, leg of lamb and chicken hearts; at lunch, there are seven choices. Grilled pineapple, black beans, yucca and more come on the side. It's one price for all, $23.50 at lunch, $48.50 at dinner. Details: Lunch and dinner served daily at 167 W. San Fernando St., San Jose. 408-294-0110; www.taurinussteakhouse.com.

Alameda eats: Craving a little barbecue? Two new eateries will be joining Trabocco Kitchen and Cocktails in Alameda's South Shore Center soon. The Bagel Street Cafe will open an Alameda branch this summer -- the 23rd location for the Bay Area chain. And Marin County's Best Lil' Porkhouse is opening an East Bay outpost. You will be able to order your barbecue -- baby back ribs, brisket and more -- St. Louis, Kansas City, Memphis or Texas-style, but the ingredients are pure NorCal style: organic, sustainable and humanely raised. Yum. Peek at the menu at www.bestlilporkhouse.com. P.S. Trabocco, the Italian restaurant with Il Fornaio cred, just launched lunch service. Check out those enticements at www.trabocco.com.
