The Newark Police Department is asking for the public s help in identifying the theft suspect depicted in the photographs.

NEWARK -- Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who stole several bicycles from Newark Memorial High School.

During the theft, which took place during the morning hours of April 10, the man was caught on camera taking at least two bikes from the school at 39375 Cedar Blvd., Cmdr. Mike Carroll said.

Police described the man as white, in his late 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with graying brown, collar-length hair, a mustache and pock-marked skin on his face. He wore a tan baseball cap, a brown jacket, black pants and black and white shoes.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call school resource Officer Ryan Johnson at 510-578-4934. Information can also be left anonymously on the silent-witness hotline at 510-578-4000, extension 500.
