UNION CITY -- A man was robbed at gunpoint by three juveniles Wednesday morning outside James Logan High School, police said.
The man, a former student at the Union City high school, was not injured and police arrested the suspects a short time after the incident, police said.
The armed robbery took place about 11:30 a.m. and prompted officials to lock down the high school at 1800 H St. and nearby Searles Elementary School at 33629 15th St., Cmdr. Ben Horner said.
The lockdowns were lifted about 11:50 a.m. at both schools, school officials said.
At 11:33 a.m. the victim flagged down a police officer near the school tennis courts off H street, Horner said.
The victim told officers that three male juveniles wearing black hoodies robbed him at gunpoint and stole an iPod Touch from him, Horner said.
After the robbery, the suspects got into a gold, four-door car and fled.
"Because of the proximity to the school and because police were unsure if the suspects had fled into the school, the high school and the nearby (elementary school) were both locked down," Horner said.
Officers searched both schools but did not find the suspects.
The juveniles' vehicle was pulled over in South Hayward a short time later near Fairway Park, and the occupants were identified as the suspected robbers, police said. Police recovered a pellet gun and towed the juveniles' car. They are from South Hayward and do not attend James Logan, police said.
All three were arrested and the case remained under investigation Wednesday.
