Search crews looking for a missing hiker on Mount Tamalpais on Thursday discovered a body in a creek drainage, a search member said.

The hiker was reported missing about 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon and the hiker's car was located near the Mountain Home Inn on Panoramic Highway. The body was found well off the road between Panoramic Highway and the Matt Davis Trail.

The Marin County Sheriff-Coroner's Office was investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. The name of the missing hiker was not released.

The search operation included the Marin County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team, the California Highway Patrol and parks rangers.

The search occurred in approximately the same area where another missing hiker was found on Sunday. That hiker, 33-year-old Magdalena Glinkowsi of Menlo Park, had been reported missing in early April.

Authorities said there was no sign of foul play in Glinkowsi's death. The cause of death is pending.
