SAN JOSE -- Police are on the lookout for a silver sedan that sideswiped a parked California Highway Patrol car and hit an officer Friday, according to the agency.
Around 10:40 p.m., two CHP officers were stopped along northbound HIghway 101 just north of Alum Rock Avenue, issuing a citation when a driver of a silver sedan, of unknown make or model, moved from the slow lane to the off-ramp at McKee Avenue, the CHP stated.
The driver of the sedan drove over the right shoulder of Highway 101 and then sideswiped the patrol car before hitting one of the officers. That officer then fell forward and knocked down the second officer who was on patrol in the same car, the CHP added.
The driver of the sedan did not stop and has not been located.
The officer who was hit by the car was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. The second officer was not injured.
Anyone with information on this incident can contact the San Jose CHP office at 408-467-5400.
