SAN JOSE -- A standoff between police and a man suspected of firing shots in a neighborhood near Camden Avenue ended Monday morning when the man surrendered.
The incident began at about 8:06 p.m. Sunday when San Jose police received reports of a man firing shots into the ground near his home in the 1700 block of Del Paso Avenue, according to Sgt. Heather Randol. After firing the shots, the man went back inside his home.
Officers responded to the home and tried to make contact with the man, according to police.
The man refused to come out, and the San Jose police MERGE unit (also known as SWAT) responded to the scene. The standoff ended nearly eight hours later when the man surrendered at 3:50 a.m., according to police.
