Cal's Teri McKeever and Bob Bowman were named to coach the U.S. women's and men's teams at the Pan Pacific Championships, USA Swimming announced Wednesday.

The Pan Pacific Championships -- the biggest international meet of the year -- is scheduled for Aug. 21-25 in Gold Coast, Australia. The Phillips 66 national championships, Aug. 6-10 in Irvine, will serve as the meet qualifier.

The Arena Santa Clara Grand Prix, June 19-22, at the George F. Haines International Swim Center, is the final major tune up before nationals.

McKeever and Bowman, of Baltimore, traditionally bring their top swimmers to Santa Clara, including Olympic stars Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin.

McKeever, who recently completed her 22nd season at Berkeley, became the first woman to coach a U.S. Olympic swim team in London two years ago. She has coached some of America's greatest swimmers, including current Bears star Missy Franklin.
