OAKLAND -- A man already serving a prison term for a gun conviction has been charged with murder in the stabbing death last November of a man in East Oakland, authorities said Thursday.

Jabulani Williams, 38, is charged with killing Casey Walker, 26, on Nov. 21, 2013 inside a house in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue.

Officer Jason Andersen said Williams refused to talk to investigators.

Andersen said the stabbing ended a personal dispute between the men, but he would not say what

it was about. Both men lived in Oakland.

Police were able to eventually identify Williams as the suspect through video surveillance and witness statements.

Authorities said at the time of the stabbing that Williams was free on bail, pending the start of a 16-month sentence for a September 2013 possession of a firearm by a felon conviction. He surrendered to authorities in December at Santa Rita Jail and was transferred to San Quentin in February, authorities said.

Williams also has a prior conviction in November 2004 for possession of cocaine for sale.

It is not yet known when Williams will be brought from prison to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court.
