Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who was banned for life by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver this week for racially charged comments, has broken his silence.

Sterling told Los Angeles magazine DuJour.com that "I wish I had just paid her off." in reference to former girlfriend V. Stiviano, the woman to whom Sterling made racial remarks in a recorded conversation that ignited the controversy. The brief post noted that Sterling expressed remorse for the way the matter transpired.

According to the magazine, Sterling claims he is limiting interviews to Barbara Walters and the NBA.
