SAN FRANCISCO -- Officials briefly ordered a lockdown at San Francisco General following reports of possible gunshots that turned out to be unfounded.
A staff member reported hearing a "loud noise" around 1 p.m., according to hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan. Patients and staff were advised to lock all doors as San Francisco Sheriff's deputies and San Francisco Police did a room-to-room search for a suspect. Just before 2 p.m., officials gave the all-clear, saying that the report of gunshots may have been a false alarm.
The first reports said shots were fired on the third or fourth floor of the hospital's building 1.
The hospital is located at 1001 Potrero Ave.
