Lea Michele dated her teacher -- her character's teacher, I mean -- on "Glee."

According to the New York Daily News, the actress broke this terribly exciting news in her new memoir, "Brunette Ambition," when describing how she got the role of Rachel Berry on the hit TV show.

"When we shot the pilot, I met Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley and Chris Colfer for the first time," Michele wrote. "I had worked on Broadway with Jenna Ushkowitz and Matthew Morrison before. Matt had been a friend of mine for years, and in fact we'd actually dated back in the day for a Broadway beat."

Dated ... so that's what the kids call it these days.

Why this is notable is that she and Morrison have both denied rumors over the years that they dated. They said they were only friends.

Being "friends" ... so that's what the kids are calling it these days.

"I've known Matt for years," Michele told Hollywood.com in 2010. "He's been a friend of mine from New York. People are going to make things up. I think it's just because we really are so close."

Apparently so.
