OAKLAND -- A 28-year-old San Leandro man died Thursday night from injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in East Oakland, police said Friday.
He was identified by the Alameda County Coroner's Office as Angerlo Jackson Jr.
The collision happened about 7:39 p.m. at the intersection of 107th Avenue and Russet Street.
Police said the driver of a Honda Pilot SUV was going northbound on 107th Avenue and had stopped at a stop sign at Russet.
When the driver started to make a left turn onto Russet the SUV was hit by the Suzuki GSXR motorcycle Jackson was riding eastbound on Russet, police said.
Jackson, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He died later at a hospital.
Police said the motorcycle appeared to have been speeding.
The name of the driver of the SUV, who stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, was not released.
