OAKLAND -- A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times Thursday morning in West Oakland, police said.

The victim's name and city of residence was not released. He had surgery for his wounds to his torso and was in critical but stable condition Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 9:05 a.m. in the area of Mandela Parkway and Willow Street. After the shooting the victim ran to the 2800 block of Mandela Parkway where police and medical personnel were called.

The shooter ran away and no arrests had been made Thursday afternoon.

No motive has been established yet, but police have not ruled out the possibility the shooting was gang-related.
