Lorde is heading back to the Bay Area.
The New Zealand electro-pop artist, who now clearly ranks as one of the world's biggest stars, will perform Oct. 2 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley.
Lorde has been a regular in the Bay Area over the last few months. She performed a sold-out two-night stand at the Fox Theater in Oakland in March and appeared at Live 105's Not So Silent Night fandango at Oracle Arena in Oakland in December. She also headlined the Fillmore in San Francisco in September.
The 17-year-old singer-songwriter remains on an amazing roll. Following her breakout year in 2013, Lorde won two big Grammy Awards — song of the year" and best pop solo performance — in January.
More recently, Lorde was prominently featured at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. She performed onstage with Nirvana's Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, as part of festivities celebrating Nirvana's no-brainer induction into the hall.
Her stunning debut, "Pure Heroine," has sold over 1.5 million copies since being released in September. It was also selected by this newspaper group as the top album of 2013.
