A pedestrian was hospitalized with minor injuries after being struck by a police patrol car in East Oakland on Sunday night, a police captain said today.
The pedestrian was struck while crossing the street from the center divider at the intersection of 84th Avenue and International Boulevard around 10:25 p.m., Oakland police Capt. Kirk Coleman said.
Coleman said the pedestrian was taken to a hospital with complaints of pain and was not seriously injured.
The patrol car was traveling at a low speed at the time of the collision, he said.
Oakland police are conducting an internal investigation into the incident and the officer involved will not be placed on leave since the collision was determined to be accidental, Coleman said.
