SAN JOSE -- A San Jose man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of arson after a fire burned about two acres on Mt. Hamilton, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
Tuan Tran, 31, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, according to a sheriff's spokesman.
At 10:15 p.m. San Jose and Cal Fire firefighters responded to a grass fire near Clayton and Mt. Hamilton roads, sheriff's Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said. Sheriff's deputies also responded and located a man camping illegally.
Deputies say Tran was responsible for the wildfire when an illegal camp fire got out of control.
It is not known why Tran was camping in the area. Stenderup said it's not an area normally associated with homeless encampments.
Sheriff's deputies were trying to determine if there were "any telltale signs of an illegal marijuana grow."
A California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
