Stanford basketball standout Chiney Ogwumike has been named Pac-12 Woman of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday in a news release.
Ogwumike, who plays for the WNBA Connecticut Sun, who selected her with the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, is the conference's candidate for NCAA Woman of the Year, awarded to graduating athletes who distinguish themselves in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. The national winner will be announced in October.
A two-time consensus All-American and Pac-12 Player of the Year, Ogwumike won this year's John R. Wooden Award as the nation's top player.
