EL CERRITO -- Seven people suspected of robbing and beating a man near BART's El Cerrito del Norte station late Wednesday were nabbed by police shortly after the attack.
Richmond residents Jahhi Johnson, 20, and Delbert Stallworth, 18, along with five juveniles also from Richmond, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in the 11 p.m. assault near a path to the rear of 11880 San Pablo Ave., Lt. Steve Bonini said.
The victim told officers that seven males -- two armed with handguns -- confronted him, knocked him off his bicycle and pistol-whipped him. The group then stole the victim's wallet containing $75, his driver's license and credit card.
Officers canvassed the area and found a group of males walking near Wall and South 45th streets.
The group was detained and identified by the victim as being the suspects who robbed and attacked him.
Two suspects had an airsoft gun, which Bonini said is a replica handgun that looks like a real gun. Police also found the victim's wallet with the cash, driver's license and credit card.
The suspects were booked and interviewed at the El Cerrito Police Department and the juvenile suspects were taken to Juvenile Hall. Johnson and Stallworth were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
