REDWOOD CITY -- A 16-year-old was fatally wounded in a shooting early Thursday, but police say they have little information on what led up to his death.

Around 12:20 a.m., Redwood City police responded to Kaiser Hospital, located at 1150 Veterans Blvd., for a report of a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, authorities said.

According to Lt. Sean Hart, the teen was dropped off at the hospital by an unidentified car, which sped off before officers arrived. The teen, who is believed to be from East Palo Alto, was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after he arrived.

Little else is known about the victim or the shooting, Hart said. Police do not have a crime scene to investigate because no shooting has been reported.

Hart added that no one police have interviewed so far has been cooperative.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact Detective Josh Chilton at 650-780-7141. Those wanting to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
