SAN JOSE -- A married couple suffered minor smoke inhalation after a small fire ignited in their Berryessa neighborhood townhouse¿, according to a San Jose fire captain.
The small blaze was reported at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday in a townhouse on the 1900 block of Messina Drive, located near Cropley and Morrill avenues. The residents called 911 and reported a window air conditioning unit was on fire, according to San Jose fire Capt. Reggie Williams.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the small blaze, which was under control in one hour.
The couple was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
