BERKELEY -- Investigators have arrested a 22-year-old Oakland man in connection with the shooting of two men in South Berkeley earlier this month, though another suspect remains at large, police said Thursday.

Donzale Mejia was arrested Thursday morning at an undisclosed location in Oakland after police served a search warrant, said Berkeley police Officer Jennifer Coats.

Anthony Durant, 23, of Berkeley remains at large and is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon for the shooting on June 11. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Police said Mejia and Durant shot two other men, ages 18 and 21. Both men, who were not identified, were wounded but later recovered.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. June 11 in the 1600 block of Russell Street near California Street.

Working together, Berkeley police, Alameda County Sheriff's deputies and Oakland police served four search warrants at Berkeley homes in the 1600 block of Julia Street, the 1600 block of Russell Street and the 1500 block of Blake Street in Berkeley and the 4600 block of Tyrrell Street in Oakland.

Some guns were also recovered but whether they were used in the shooting has not been determined, police said.
