WATCH THIS:

  • "The Walking Dead" marathon (9 a.m., AMC): We know you've been missing those repulsive zombies. Now is your chance to catch up with the gore fest via a three-day marathon of episodes, fittingly dubbed a "Dead, White and Blue Weekend."

  • "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (8 p.m., NBC): Here's our big-bang theory: Nothing matches watching fireworks live and in person. But if you happen to be anchored to the couch this year, television has plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" to offer as well. Nick Cannon hosts the festivities from New York City. Among the performers are Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes and Lionel Richie.

  • "A Capitol Fourth" (8 p.m., PBS): If you'd rather spend the holiday in Washington, D.C., this special is the one you want. It's hosted by Tom Bergeron, who welcomes, among others, Frankie Valli, Patti LaBelle and Jordin Sparks to the party on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

    Also on Friday:

  • "Captain America: The First Avenger," 2011 movie (8 p.m., FX)

  • "Independence Day," 1996 movie (8 p.m., Encore)
