HAYWARD -- A 74-year-old man who was on life support after being struck by a minivan in the Hayward Hills on Wednesday has died, police said Friday.
Jerry Rose of Hayward died late Thursday following the wreck which police said appears to have been an accident.
Officers were dispatched at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Farm Hill and La Mesa drives for a report of a man hit by a 2014 Honda Odyssey, Sgt. Mark Ormsby said.
Rose who lived in the area, was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with a severe head injury, Ormsby said.
He was placed on life support until dying at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with police. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash and on Friday, police said, and the incident remained under investigation.
