The incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. near the 98th Avenue exit, when CHP began receiving calls from motorists about a woman who was lying in one of the northbound lanes.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained major injuries and was later pronounced dead. The driver of a Coca-Cola truck that struck the woman remained on scene and was cooperating with the authorities.

A traffic alert was issued at 4:45 a.m. due to lane closures. The lanes and on-ramp were reopened shortly before 6:15 a.m., according to the CHP.

Anyone who may have seen anything unusual on the 98th Avenue overpass or on Interstate 880 near 98th Avenue is asked to call the CHP at 510-450-3821.
