Marriage trouble with Ellen DeGeneres drove Portia de Rossi to drink and drug herself into rehab in May, according to In Touch magazine.

No, I'm not sure "drug" is a verb. If not, it is now.

After a supposed "ugly fight" with DeGeneres, de Rossi secretly checked into a rehab facility in early May to receive treatment for drugs and alcohol. Apparently, problems with the marriage came to a head with a blowout argument at their $40 million Holmby Hills mansion.

"They got into an ugly fight," a source close to the couple told In Touch.

Figures. Have you ever heard someone describe a fight like that as "pretty?"

"Portia hadn't been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating (herself), and Ellen confronted her. Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn't in love with her anymore. Ellen was crushed and screamed at Portia to get out."

Reportedly -- and really, we have no idea whether this is true, but lets's just go with it for now -- the "Arrested Development" star checked into Passages in Malibu.

"Portia entered Passages Malibu rehab facility in early May for a 30-day treatment for drugs and alcohol," another source reportedly told the magazine. "Ellen visited her every weekend to support her while she was there."

Well ... yeah, since it was her fault and everything.

The couple's marriage is allegedly full of "jealousy, lies and fighting," according to In Touch.

"Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive. Ellen always calls the shots, and Portia never complains," the source said.

Sounds like she finally did.

"She felt like a prisoner in her own home. She went from sipping white wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill. It got to the point where she was out of it four nights a week. They've had vicious shouting matches -- with both of them yelling cruel, soul-crushing put-downs that they both deeply regretted."

Come on ... Ellen does all that funny dancing on TV. She likes Muppets and stray dogs. Come on.

The pair reportedly tried couples therapy prior to the rehab stint and divorce supposedly became on option. But there are still trying to work it out.
