A wallet theft in San Rafael led to the arrest of two sisters, one of whom falsely identified herself as the other, police said.

The incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the Canal area, where two women confronted a man on Novato Street. One of the women punched the man and took his wallet, San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

After the women fled, the man and his wife followed them to recover the wallet, which held about $2,500. When the couple caught up to one of the suspects, she allegedly swung at a stick at the victim's wife.

Police arrived and detained the alleged stick-wielder, who identified herself as Kiaira Fluker. Police then detained the other suspect and determined she was the real Kiaira Fluker, while the first suspect was her older sister, Keianna Fluker.

Keianna Fluker, 31, of Sacramento and Kiaira Fluker, 25, of Oakland were booked into Marin County Jail. The elder sister was booked on suspicion of theft, false impersonation, assault and resisting arrest. The younger was booked on suspicion of theft and battery. ------ (c)2014 The Marin Independent Journal (Novato, Calif.)
