SAN JOSE -- The Los Lagos Golf Course saw its third brush fire in 10 days when a patch of vegetation burned Thursday morning, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The one-alarm fire was reported just before 6 a.m. in the creek next the course off Tuers Road and Capitol Expressway, Fire Capt. Cleo Doss said. Firefighters put out the fire, which scorched a 30-by-70-foot area, within an hour.
No injuries were reported and no buildings were threatened. A cause remains under investigation.
The golf course was the site of a fire June 30 when six acres burned. Three days later, remnants of that fire flared up and burned a 20-by-20-foot area in the creek. Those occurred in the backdrop of a blaze 125 acres of Santa Teresa Hill off Curie Drive in what served as a grim harbinger of a summer fire season expected to be especially active given unprecedented drought conditions in the state.
