SALINAS - A former sign language interpreter for deaf students pled no contest to felony charges accusing him of improper sexual activity with three underage students, the District Attorney's office announced Friday.
Adam Frogel, a 56-year-old Nevada resident, used to work with North Salinas High School deaf students as a contract sign interpreter. Frogel was arrested in March after authorities at the high school called police reporting inappropriate sexual contact with his students, officials said in a press release.
Earlier this year, prosecutors filed a complaint that alleged some of the activity took place in a car and in a hotel room. Future investigations showed Frogel inappropriately touched two of the children over their clothing and asked another to have sexual relations with him, officials said. The children were 15 and 16 years old.
Frogel faces charges for exhibiting a harmful material to a minor, a misdemeanor child molestation and battery. He will be sentenced for these charges on Sept. 5.
