PACIFICA -- An 84-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening in the stabbing of his wife at their home, police said.
Tony Lee was booked into San Mateo County Jail early Monday, hours after he was arrested in the incident, Pacifica police Capt. Joe Spanheimer said. Lee's 72-year-old wife was listed in critical condition Monday after being stabbed multiple times, though police say she is stable and expected to survive.
Officers responded about 5 p.m. to the couple's home in the 400 block of Griffin Avenue, Spanheimer said. Police found the injured woman inside the house, and she was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Lee was taken into custody at the scene and booked into jail hours later, Spanheimer said. It was not immediately known what may have motivated the attack. A family member called police, officials said.
Pacifica police detectives continued Monday to investigate the incident, which has not yet been submitted to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Lee remains in jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.
