Michael Jackson's niece and nephews are getting their own reality show.

Jackson? Never heard of him.

But apparently, he was a big enough deal that his family members now have their own six-episode television show on the Reelz network, debuting Nov. 18. The show focuses on Alejandra Jackson, who was married to Michael's brother Jermaine, and her five children -- three of whom were fathered by Jermaine.

After Michael's death in 2009, the family left the Jackson family compound in Encino.

"We didn't want it to happen that way," Alejandra's daughter Genevieve said Saturday at the TV critics' event in Southern California.

Son Donte Jackson said "Some of the politics came into play."

"We were very sheltered," Genevieve said. "There's a lot of outside people coming in and out of our house. We had to watch what we said."

I'm guessing Michael Jackson jokes were discouraged.

Genevieve -- who seems to like Jackson men -- also had two children with Michael's younger brother Randy. That happened before she married Jermaine.

Alejandra Jackson since he was 2, after he was adopted by Katherine and Joe. Which would make him Michael Jackson's brother and Alejandra's brother-in-law.

"It's a long story," Alejandra said about her love life.

You don't say?

So why are they seeking the spotlight now, after all these years?

"People already had a preconceived judgment of us and we weren't speaking," Randy Jr. said. "Now we feel comfortable enough to show how we really are."
