HAYWARD -- Using GPS technology on a stolen cell phone, police tracked down a group of suspected armed robbers Monday afternoon in Hayward.
The alleged robbery happened about 2:10 p.m., when a group of four to five males walked up to the victim near D and Atherton streets and robbed him at gunpoint, Lt. Bobbie Koller said.
The suspects took the victim's backpack, which had his wallet and other property, including a cell phone, police said. The victim was not injured.
After police were dispatched, officers used GPS technology to locate the stolen property near a home on the 500 block of Dean Street, Koller said.
There, police found a man and a male juvenile, both from Hayward, with the victim's property and the gun used during the robbery. The victim identified the pair as two of the suspected robbers. They were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
The other suspects remained at large on Tuesday, Koller said.
