Will Jack Bauer and "24" live yet another day?
That question was posed to Peter Rice, the chairman and CEO of the Fox Networks Group, who is open to the idea.
Rice said he thought this summer's limited-run revival of "24" was "fantastic," and though he has had no specific conversations about extending the franchise, he expects to.
"I'm sure we will in the future," he said Sunday at the TV critics press tour. "It's a wonderful franchise. I think the show has many more stories to tell."
In other developments from the Fox executive session, Rice said that he hopes this will not be the last season for "Bones," and that he's still bullish on "American Idol."
"'Idol' is still a very strong show for us. ... I think it's aging gracefully," he said.
If there's one criticism Rice has of "Idol" in recent years, its that it hasn't done an adequate job of finding contestants who forge strong connections with the audience.
"We haven't had a group of kids that have captured the imagination of the public," he said. "We need to concentrate on that and not get wrapped up in the conversation about who the judges should be."
