One of Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter's (FAAS) longest-term residents finally went home last week. SILVER, a beautiful, 10 year old cream/silver tabby with amazing blue eyes had been at FAAS for over a year. Senior cats (over 7 years old) in shelters tend to stay a long time because they are overlooked by individuals wanting a young kitten.

To help the FAAS senior cats find their new homes more quickly, we have started the Silver Whiskers Club. All senior cats at FAAS can be adopted free of charge. The cats will have a senior blood panel done before adoption to determine if there are any medical issues. They will also be FIV/FeLV tested. Adopters will receive a free kitty essentials package (litter box, scoop, cat litter, toys, cardboard carrier, collar, brush, nail clippers, scratching pad).

Our newest Silver Whiskers Club member is CHARLOTTE. She is a very beautiful 13-year-old, healthy black/white cat who was recently surrendered by her owners. Charlotte is a mellow and sweet gal who will absolutely adore you when you adopt her.

July is a great month to adopt any of the 80-plus pets at FAAS. We are having an "IndePETdence" Month special of $50 adoptions! The fee includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, one-year license for Alameda residents, a free wellness exam, free dog training classes and more.
