SAN JOSE -- A fast-rising fire damaged a home in the Evergreen neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, displacing the six adults and one child who live there, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The one-alarm fire was reported at 1:14 p.m. on Blue Creek Court, off Aborn Road, in East San Jose, Fire Capt. Cleo Doss said.
Everyone inside the home escaped safely. The blaze started on the home's exterior and climbed to the attic, Doss said. Firefighters cut holes in the roof to vent the fire and fully extinguished it by 1:41 p.m.
A cause for the fire was not immediately known. The American Red Cross was summoned to help the residents find temporary housing, as the home was rendered inhabitable because of the fire damage and power getting cut during the firefighting effort.
