A man whom officers contacted as a passenger during a traffic stop on July 25 was arrested after suspected crack cocaine was discovered hidden inside his inhaler, police said.

The 56-year-old man was also allegedly in possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Officers found the substance and paraphernalia after a routine background check revealed he was on probation and could be searched, police said.

The traffic stop and arrest occurred just before 5 p.m. in the 1900 block of Everett Street.

THURSDAY, JULY 24

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 30, on suspicion of drunken driving about 5:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue. When officers initially contacted the woman, she was asleep behind the wheel with the keys in the ignition and with the engine running, police said. Her vehicle was also illegally parked.

  • MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police cited and released a man, 50, after he was allegedly in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana about 2:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Chapin Street.

    FRIDAY, JULY 25

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Newark in the 2100 block of Alameda South Shore Center about 5:45 a.m.

  • BURGLARY -- A commercial burglary was reported at 12:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of Webb Avenue. A residential burglary was reported about 2:05 p.m. in the 3100 block of Gibbons Drive, where someone entered a backyard and an office building. No items are believed to have been stolen.

  • AUTO BURGLARY -- Someone broke a vehicle window while it was parked at Fairhaven Road and Shoreline Drive and stole the victim's purse from inside. The theft was reported just before 5 p.m.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 44, about 7:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Pacific Avenue, where he was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine. An officer searched the man after learning that he was on probation for possessing stolen property.

    SATURDAY, JULY 26

  • BATTERY -- A 22-year-old man was arrested after he entered a hotel room on South Loop Road and touched the victim inappropriately as he slept, police said. The man, who was arrested about 1:35 a.m., faces a charge of sexual battery.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- A man, 41, who threw a woman to the ground and punched her in the face, leaving her with a visible injury, was also in possession of two firearms, drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine, police said. Police arrested him at 4:10 p.m. on Lincoln Avenue.

    SUNDAY, JULY 27

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 30, on suspicion of drunken driving about 5:45 a.m. in the 2200 block of San Jose Avenue after contacting him while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle.

  • ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON -- Police arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of assault after she allegedly hit two people, including one with a glass cup, causing an injury. The woman also resisted officers while she was being taken into custody following the incident, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Park Street.

    MONDAY, JULY 28

  • BURGLARY -- Someone entered a locked construction site at the Pacific Marina Apartments in the 1100 block of Pacific Marina and stole construction equipment, police said. The theft was reported about 5:40 a.m. Someone also entered a storage shed in the residence in the 3200 block of Fairview Avenue and stole miscellaneous items in what police have classified as a burglary. It was reported at 10:05 p.m.
